Case Study - Design, Marketing and Publishing Company
Kantala were originally approached to perform some modifications to an existing sales and marketing database used by one section of the company. After a number of meetings, examination of the existing database and discussions focussing on the future perceived needs of the business, the decision was taken to rebuild the solution from scratch.
Kantala developed a multi-user sales, marketing and job tracking system, with multiple access levels. The solution provides automatic "follow-up" reminders and manages communication with the company's 16000 + contacts, ensuring that "call backs" are scheduled correctly. It also:
- Tracks all quotes and confirmed jobs
- Produces internal and external paperwork (quotations, job sheets, confirmation forms, pro-forma invoices)
- Manages and creates marketing activities (print and email)
- Receives email responses to marketing "e-shots", filters out "bounce" messages and updates the contact records accordingly, flagging them so the email address can be checked
- Produces detailed management reports including sales (by type, date range, salesperson) and contacts (best and worst, active and inactive)
Shortly after completing the new solution, Kantala were contracted to roll out the facilities to the rest of the company, integrating other areas of the business under the same umbrella, providing unified CRM, sales and marketing management facilities, with access to the same features and reporting functions.

Kantala have recently completed work on a web based job sign-off / payment system, allowing clients to log in and view proofs of their orders, sign them off and transfer to a secure payment gateway to complete the purchase. This was developed using PHP to query the XML output of Filemaker Server Advanced.
